The birthday of the new People’s Republic of China passes on the first of October. It is part of a bigger national holiday which some call as the “Golden week”. It is the second-largest national holiday countrywide and is used by many migrants to head home to visit parents and family.

70th anniversary of China

This year, 2019, is the 70th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. It will be greatly celebrated in comparison to other years. China has risen ranking second in the world economy and has been taking a world leaders role in the past 70 years.

Celebrations

The country and people have reached enormous goals in terms of development, which makes that this anniversary will be celebrated greater than before. The military parade in Beijing will be the focus of the country. Where locally firework shows are planned. Firework shows organized in cities where a ban on fireworks exists for already for multiple years due to the high pollution risks. Having these firework shows indicates that this 70th anniversary is not the same as others. The importance of this moment has been also clear in megaprojects under construction. The new Beijing Daxing Airport has been opened just before national day and other constructions have been pushed to be ready before the national day.

My people, My country

For this 70th anniversary, there has been a special movie made named “My people, My country”. This movie is created by seven directors which all separately have directed a historical moment since the founding of New China. All assembled in one movie showing stories of the ordinary people and the country. Not only China broadcasts this movie. The Cinema’s in for example The Netherlands and Canada will also broadcast the movie from the national day which shows the more equal status of China worldwide. What does this mean for your business?

For your business, this means that there will be a nationwide holiday. Offices will be closed till the 8th of October. Where factories, depending on local policies and environment, closing from only one day till five or six days. As the Chinese new year period, the national holiday is nationwide and creates the situation of companies closing fully down with no output or service. Shipments and other projects their delivery need to be pushed before the national holiday to prevent any delays. Unlike the Chinese new year period, this moment is generally not used by employees to switch from jobs. Projects and work left behind before the national holiday will, therefore, be more smoothly up and running.
